‘He’s checking in… but not checking out': New Girl’s Max Greenfield joins cast of American Horror Story: Hotel.

The 34-year-old actor is best known for his role as Schmidt in the FOX sitcom New Girl and also starred in the network’s comedy series The Mindy Project, which is moving to Hulu next season.

The show’s creator Ryan Murphy announced the news on Twitter, posting rather cryptically: “This October, Max Greenfield (like you’ve never seen him) is checking in to the hotel….but not checking out. #AHSHotel” Greenfield, who plays the much-loved character Schmidt on the Fox comedy New Girl, joins an all-star line-up including Sarah Paulson, Matt Bomer, Lady Gaga, Chloe Sevigny, Kathy Bates Cheyenne Jackson and Wes Bentley. According to Murphy, Greenfield—”like you’ve never seen him”—will join the show in October, but as Murphy teased, Greenfield won’t be “checking out.” So he either has a very permanent stay within the walls of the hotel, or he isn’t long for that world. Meanwhile, Max is making strides in his movie career as he is currently filming The Big Short alongside Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, Karen Gillan, Selena Gomez and Steve Carell.
