Rachel McAdams finally confirms she will be joining Marvel’s Doctor Strange as the female lead.

Telling The Wrap about her next role, Rachel said: ‘I’m going to go do Doctor Strange, a psychedelic Marvel comic with Benedict Cumberbatch and I’m really looking forward to that.’ Doctor Strange tells the story of an arrogant surgeon, who after a car crash, loses the ability to perform surgery and so goes on a search for magic to heal him.Rachel McAdams officially confirmed with TheWrap at the Toronto International Film Festival, after long spun rumours, that she will be starring in Marvel’s Doctor Strange alongside Benedict Cumberbatch.

Rachel wasn’t able to give away the name of the character she’s playing but one can speculate that she could be playing Clea, a human-looking sorceress who is the niece of one of Strange’s tyrannical enemies Dormammu. The 36-year-old actress was in town to promote her upcoming flick, Spotlight, at the annual film festival when she hit the town at the Soho House party sponsored by Grey Goose with her sexy sibling. Of course, the duo does look alike, all things considered, but Daniel is giving us all kinds of Zach Gilford vibes…Clear eyes and full hearts, you guys.

The Ancient One also has links to Clea, by rescuing her from her mother Umar, so if Rachel is cast as the energy being then it might be a clue to the upcoming Marvel film’s plot. McAdams, having just come off the polarizing second season of HBO’s True Detective but part of the all star cast of the upcoming Spotlight (already catching Oscar buzz), fuelled the fire when she admitted she had discussions with Marvel in July, setting fanboys’ hearts aflutter. At Disney’s D23 convention in August, Marvel’s Kevin Feige said that the film will “continue to push the boundaries of [Marvel’s] cinematic universe,” citing Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man.
