Arrest Made in Lil Wayne Shooting in Atlanta.

ATLANTA An Atlanta man faces charges including aggravated assault and gang activity for shooting at Grammy-winning rap music star Lil Wayne’s tour buses, police said on Friday.According to a TMZ report, police in Atlanta have found a suspect in an incident last month that involved Lil Wayne‘s tour bus being shot at outside of Atlanta’s Compound Nightclub as Wayne and his team were making their exit.

Jimmy Carlton Winfrey, 25, fired at the two tour buses last month in order to gain street credibility, according to local media reports, which identified Winfrey as a member of the Bloods gang. According to TMZ, Winfrey’s criminal gang activity charge stems from the Atlanta police’s assumption that the shooting incident was “an effort to gain status as a Blood by committing a high profile shooting of a rival rap artist.” Thankfully, no one was injured in the tour bus shooting.

TMZ says Winfrey is actually Thugger’s tour manager (the site has a photo of Thug and Winfrey with blunts and cough syrup in hand, so they must be pretty close). There’s no surefire way to determine when this photo was taken, but up until 7 months ago, Thug’s hair was only partially blonde, meaning this would have to have been taken between late November and now.

Cobb County Police charged Winfrey with felony counts of aggravated assault, terroristic acts, gang activity, felony possession of a firearm, and criminal damage to property. Wayne was onboard one of the buses, and Lil Twist, Hood (Young Money rapper), and several Young Money executives were also inside the tour buses during the shooting.

Some witnesses did provide authorities with a limited description of the suspects’ vehicles, which were described as a white SUV and a white Corvette-style car. Instead, Thug went on social media and revealed Wayne was his idol, despite the recent controversy surrounding Cash Money Records and Young Money Entertainment. Wayne is currently suing Cash Money for $50 million dollars, which has caused a rift between the New Orleans’ rapper and Cash Money CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams. Even though he didn’t respond to Wayne’s diss record, Thug did attempt to name his debut album Carter 6, an effort that Wayne received as disrespectful.

Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter Jr., has released four albums using the moniker “Carter.” Those projects include Tha Carter, Tha Carter II, Tha Carter III, and Tha Carter IV. Last September, Young Thug shocked fans when he announced that he wanted to continue Wayne’s Tha Carter series after it was reported that Tha Carter V would be his last solo album.
