Arrest Made in Lil Wayne Shooting in Atlanta.

ATLANTA An Atlanta man faces charges including aggravated assault and gang activity for shooting at Grammy-winning rap music star Lil Wayne’s tour buses, police said on Friday.

The suspect, whose name is described as Jimmy Carlton Winfrey, has been charged with aggravated assault, terrorist threats, possession of a firearm by a felon, criminal gang activity, reckless conduct and discharging a weapon near the street. He is reportedly serve as a road manager of Wayne’s rival Young Thug and also a member of Bloods – a street gang involved in criminal and illegal activities.

It has been said that the bus shooting incident which took place in May 26 may have something to do with Wayne’s ongoing feud with Young Thug, a feud which stemmed from the Birdman’s Cash Money records and Thug’s decision of giving the title of “Carter 6” to its mixtape. “The Carter V” is Lil Wayne’s studio album from Carter series which has been repeatedly delayed due to conflict between Wayne and his label Cash Money. Thug exacerbated the toxic rivalry when he released a mocking mixtape album called Tha Carter 6, which was to make fun of Wayn’s long-delayed album. Police suggest that the incident was an effort to gain status as a Blood by “committing a high profile shooting of a rival rap artist.” Suspect’s arrest warrant was issued on May 21st but he was taken into the custody on Thursday. Wayne was onboard one of the buses, and Lil Twist, Hood (Young Money rapper), and several Young Money executives were also inside the tour buses during the shooting. Some witnesses did provide authorities with a limited description of the suspects’ vehicles, which were described as a white SUV and a white Corvette-style car.

Wayne is currently suing Cash Money for $50 million dollars, which has caused a rift between the New Orleans’ rapper and Cash Money CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams. Even though he didn’t respond to Wayne’s diss record, Thug did attempt to name his debut album Carter 6, an effort that Wayne received as disrespectful. Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter Jr., has released four albums using the moniker “Carter.” Those projects include Tha Carter, Tha Carter II, Tha Carter III, and Tha Carter IV. Last September, Young Thug shocked fans when he announced that he wanted to continue Wayne’s Tha Carter series after it was reported that Tha Carter V would be his last solo album.
