Adam Nimoy, son of late ‘Star Trek’ star Leonard Nimoy, to guest-star on ‘The Big Bang Theory’.

While being interviewed by Adam Nimoy (l., as himself) for a documentary about Spock from ‘Star Trek,’ Sheldon (Jim Parsons, right) struggles to suppress his emotions about his recent break-up with Amy, on next Thursday’s episode of ‘The Big Bang Theory.’ Adam Nimoy, son of late “Star Trek” star Leonard Nimoy, will follow in his famous father’s footsteps with a guest-starring turn on CBS’s “Big Bang Theory.” The storyline is a case of art imitating life considering Adam Nimoy is in the midst of filming the documentary, titled “For the Love of Spock,” in real life. The show announced on its Twitter and Facebook accounts this week that Leonard Nimoy’s son, Adam, will appear on the show’s Nov. 5 episode, “The Spock Resonance.” It appears that he will be playing himself. Much of the funding was raised on Kickstarter, from long-time Trekkers, with a little help from Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner, who tweeted out about the campaign over the summer.

Made popular by Star Trek: The Original Series, Nimoy became a science fiction icon, a huge figure who continued to appear on television shows decades after his own show ended. Leonard Nimoy never appeared physically on Big Bang — only voicing a Spock action figure in a dream sequence in one episode — but his influence has been constantly felt throughout the very nerdy show. Despite his advanced age, his death came as a shock to us all; the United States and the rest of the world truly lost an irreplaceable figure that day. The late star offered his voice and presence a number of times, including the episode ‘The Transporter Malfunction.’ Beloved protagonist Sheldon Cooper, played by Jim Parsons, adored Leonard Nimoy, whose character Mr. The fact that the episode is simply a detailed tribute to the late Nimoy seems fairly clear from the title, improving upon the already touching tribute to Nimoy previously offered by the show.

After Leonard Nimoy’s death, the documentary was of course put on hold, until Adam decided that the film would be better suited to chronicling and honoring the life of his iconic father.
