Abigail Breslin on making Ryan Murphy’s ‘Scream Queens’ her first TV role.

Joe Manganiello (True Blood), Lea Michele (Glee), Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine), and Keke Palmer (Masters of Sex) have joined the cast of his new comedy-horror anthology series Scream Queens, Fox announced at the Television Critics Association’s winter TV press event. Among the new cast members announced at Saturday’s Television Critic’s Association’s winter press event, was former child star Abigail Breslin of Little Miss Sunshine fame making her television debut. “I like the idea of a weekly thing, seeing characters change,” says Breslin about her decision to make Scream Queens her first TV project. “And American Horror Story is my favorite show of all time. In other news announced by Fox Saturday, the network has ordered a second season of Empire, a third season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and a second season of Gotham. Fox Entertainment CEOs and Chairman Dana Walden and Gary Newman said “our first call” when they took their new jobs five months ago was to Murphy, whose first big hit was “Glee” on Fox.

The show will run 15 episodes and have some DNA from classic horror shows as well as quasi-parodies like “Scream.” The center of early episodes is expected to be a series of college campus murders. She also noted Scream Queens “amazing” big-name cast—Breslin joins Lea Michele, Joe Manganiello, Emma Roberts, Keke Palmer, Jamie Lee Curtis, and guest star Ariana Grande—although she couldn’t say which of them she’d be working with.
