Brother of reality star Kristin Cavallari missing under ‘suspicious’ circumstances.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Investigators on Monday were trying to piece together what happened to NFL quarterback Jay Cutler’s brother-in-law, whose abandoned car was found more than a week ago with its engine on and the air bag deployed near a remote dirt road in Utah. Michael Cavallari, 30, lives in Southern California and apparently was on a road trip by himself, though authorities say it’s unclear where he was going. Grand County Sheriff Steven White said Monday that a rancher discovered 30-year-old Michael Cavallari’s car early on Nov. 27, the day after Thanksgiving.

Video surveillance from a convenience store in Monticello, Utah, in adjacent San Juan County to the south, showed Cavallari was the person making the last known use of his credit card. The organization Missing Persons of America posted a notice saying Michael James Cavallari is “roughly 5’11”, thin, brown hair, beard” and that, “We believe he was trying to get to Illinois.” The Deseret News reported that Cavallari’s laptop and cellphone were found inside the car, which appeared to have hit a large rock on the side of the road.

The vehicle’s engine was running and its airbag was deployed. “We’re combing the area for anything we can find,” White told the paper. “We’re deeming it suspicious, but there’s nothing to indicate anything one way or another. Kristin Cavallari rose to fame in the mid-2000s when she appeared in the MTV reality series “Laguna Beach” and “The Hills.” She and Cutler have three children together.
