Ad of the Day: Kim Kardashian Just Made One Seriously Strange Ad for an Energy Drink.

Remember last year when Kim Kardashian channeled Audrey Hepburn for a special project she was working on? But don’t worry folks, she hasn’t been over-enthusiastic with the hair dye and backcombers – Kim’s simply adopted the fancy hairstyle for a short film promoting Hype Energy Drink.The film opens with one of the most recognisable faces on the planet sporting bangs and a high ponytail as she goes for a bike ride with a basket full of cans. , who is dressed in a skintight black ensemble, looks at the camera, and probably should have kept her eyes on the road, as the next moment the clip cuts to the cans of energy drink rolling around on the floor.Kim Kardashian West sports seven costumes and channels famous female figures in history, including Marie Antoinette and Audrey Hepburn, in this two-and-a-half-minute ad for Hype Energy Drink. However it’s the historical outfit which is the most eye-catching, as Kim – complete with huge white wig and heavily powdered face – delicately sips the drink from a crystal goblet.

The music, which had previously been heavy guitar music with a rock feel, switches to strings in minor keys, and the camera begins to pan over what appears to be acres of lace. The star, dressed as the 18th century Queen of France, Marie Antoinette, is asleep, her eyelashes showing traces of white dust, and her eyelids with just a hint of taupe shadow. It has the look and feel of a fashion film—most of which don’t make a lick of sense (which is fine when you’re trying to showcase a new collection).

Kim’s voluptuous chest appears to spill out of the bodice of the dress, which is reminiscent of the time period, and she holds a pink fan made out of ostrich feathers in her hand. It then cuts to another shot Kim is seen wearing a high necked heavily beaded bodice, which is teamed with a plum coloured elegant frock coat of the period. Kim said of the collaboration at the launch of the commercial in Nashville in June: ‘She had this cool concept of me being iconic characters like Audrey Hepburn, and so we made this little commercial.’ Her favourite look was the Marie Antoinette character – the reason Kim was no doubt standing so still was because her garments were actually from the era. The only bit of the narrative that is clear is that Kim, here wearing bangs and channeling Audrey Hepburn, has fallen from her bike and hit her head.
