Kerry Washington Designs Purse to Raise Funds for Domestic Violence Services: ‘It Is a Symbol of a Woman’s Financial Domain’.

The Scandal star looked gorgeous in the black sleeveless top and short floral skirt which showed off her toned legs as she stopped by AOL Builds to discuss the new season of Scandal and her anti-domestic violence work on Friday. Despite being passionate about women’s empowerment and domestic violence issues for years, Scandal actress Kerry Washington had never heard of financial abuse – the tactics abusers use to keep victims feeling trapped, like restricting their access to credit cards or legal and financial support. “It turns out that 98 percent of all domestic violence cases involve financial abuse, so it’s a huge reason for why women stay in abusive relationships and why they go back after they leave,” Washington tells PEOPLE. “They feel they don’t have the tools to take care of themselves and their families.” When the Allstate Foundation approached Washington to design a purple purse to promote the issue in 2014, she didn’t quite understand the purse part – until it really clicked. “Abuse is hard to talk about, so we thought a purse is a beautiful object that can get the conversation started,” Washington says. “It is a symbol of a woman’s financial domain.” This is the second year Washington has designed a bag for the Allstate Foundation Purple Purse campaign.(Cover) – EN Star Style – Kerry Washington’s hairstylist Takisha Sturdivant-Drew has joked she becomes “sad” when Scandal is shooting because of the dramatically different hairdos. “I love the highlights on Kerry.Olitz shippers finally got their wishes granted in the season five premiere, as Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) were happily in love and actually in an official relationship. Last time we checked on Olivia Pope () and her band of gladiators, they were busily murdering randoms in order to take down Papa Pope (Joe Morton), aka Olivia’s deranged father.

It makes her look younger, more fresh.” “I can’t think of any Olivia Pope hairstyle that made me cringe, but I’ll tell you what I loved: the natural curls on the beach. The pair wed in June, 2013, and welcomed their daughter Isabelle in late April, 2014. ‘I’m not even Catholic but I just think what he stands for in carrying the message of God not being about judgment but about service is really extraordinary.’ The actress had just dashed outside after speaking at anti-domestic violence and financial abuse event for Allstate’s The Purple Purse Foundation in New York.

The pair, who had clearly christened every single room in the White House (um, those bedroom scenes were quite racy to include in the first five minutes of the episode!), struggled with taking their feelings public considering the fact that as far as the American public was concerned, Fitz and Mellie were still married. I’d love to see those curls come back!” “Kerry uses product in her hair all week long, so I use Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo, and then the Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask. For the love of ShondaLand, what about Jake Ballard?!’ Give a warm welcome to Princess Emily of Caledonia (hi, made-up country!), who almost immediately died in a car accident while visiting D.C. with her royal family. Yep, Princess Emily and her unborn child were killed because she was having an affair with the bodyguard. #drama Poor Mellie (Bellamy Young) was thrilled when Fitz showed up at her swearing in ceremony (she’s officially a senator!), but the twist? Do we not get a season five?’ But I think it’s more like in life, that when our relationship begins, that’s the beginning, not the end.” Instead of viewing Olivia and Fitz’s relationship as the culmination of something, it’s more like a fresh start. “They get to discover what that means, what’s it like with all that tension of not being able to be together,” Washington adds. “What will it be like for them?” While Olivia wasn’t quite ready to go public following Fitz and Mellie’s divorce—she wanted to slow things down and work on their relationship before other factors got involved—they were forced out of their White House love nest by none other than the deliciously evil Sally Langston. “Okay, we wait until we’re ready,” Fitz sexily told his love, but was interrupted when his former veep broadcast photos of the couple on her cable show and spilled the beans on their relationship.

Apparently, he spent the hiatus sleeping on Olivia’s couch waiting for her to finish sexing Fitz, and spent most of this episode shaking and crying while Olivia was just like, “Yikes.” Luckily, Huck turned to Jake for help at the end of the episode, so hopefully he’ll regain what’s left of his sanity soon.
