Katy Perry, Paris Hilton and more pen tributes to beloved celebrity makeup artist Jake Bailey, who died in suspected suicide.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Perry eulogized Jake Bailey — who was found dead in his Los Angeles home from a suspected suicide Friday — for his passion, craft and meticulousness. “What beautiful art we created together. We conquered the world’s biggest stages together,” the singer wrote Saturday morning, captioning a collage of herself with the 37-year-old Bailey. “You essentially created my ‘look’ ever since we met on the (2008) music video for Hot and Cold.” She went on to praise his “otherworldly” eye for detail (“We would laugh about how you could take a nap in that eyelid crease you created”) and his knack for fashioning “such a precise lash that even Bambi couldn’t rival.” Bailey, who also counted Selena Gomez, Mariah Carey, Angelina Jolie and Idina Menzel among his highest-profile clients, famously dolled up Perry for her rainbow-splashed Cosmopolitan cover in July 2014 and her Super Bowl XLIX halftime performance. “We never got comfortable and I know that was why we did the best work together,” Perry wrote of the Salt Lake City-born artist and photographer, whose work appeared in Vogue, Vanity Fair and Harper’s Bazaar. “Every time I sit in that chair we shared, just know, no one holds a brush to you, friend.” “Pretty Little Liars” star Ashley Benson expressed disbelief at his unexpected demise, writing in an Instagram post that she’d seen him just last week.

Actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum tweeted her own photo of a smiling Bailey applying her makeup, writing, “I am absolutely devastated today by the passing of my dear friend @ByJakeBailey. I love you.” “We travelled the world together, worked on so many beautiful projects & shared so many memories,” added Paris Hilton, Bailey’s client of 15 years, on Instagram. “Heaven has a new angel.”
