Kanye ‘over-censored’ at Billboards

Fuming Kanye West says he was ‘grossly over-censored’ at the Billboard Music Awards and apologises to fans saying ‘unwarranted muting’ ruined performance.

‘Kanye West was grossly over-censored at the Billboard Music Awards,’ the statement released by his publicist said. ‘Non-profane lyrics such as ‘with my leather black jeans on’ were muted for over 30 second intervals. As a result, his voice and performance were seriously misrepresented.’ He also apologized to fans for the way TV executives cut the audio throughout his on-stage appearance in Las Vegas, claiming the amount of muting of his lyrics was ‘unwarranted.’ ‘It is ridiculous that in 2015, unwarranted censorship is something that artists still have to fight against,’ the statement continued. ‘Although West was clearly set up to face elements beyond his control during the live broadcast, he would like to apologize to the television audience who were unable to enjoy the performance the way he envisioned.’ Kanye had been advertised as one of the main performers of Sunday’s Billboards and many fans had been sat through the two-hour awards show waiting for their idol. Relive the debut of “All Day” from earlier this year and return to the simplicity of flamethrowers and a clearly visible West, both of which were absent Sunday.
