Justin Bieber Getting Comedy Central Roast

Comedy Central Will Roast Justin Bieber.

The 20-year-old singer has reportedly wanted to be the butt of the joke for years, according to a source at Comedy Central, who told Ryan Seacrest’s website: “Justin has been asking us for years to roast him, so we kept telling him to create some more material and we’re thrilled he listened.” As far as targets go, Bieber’s an easy one. Justin Bieber, the multiplatinum-selling singer and living public service announcement for why young men require powerful adult role models and high automobile insurance rates, does a pretty good job of making fun of himself. The singer’s antics have made for plenty of comedic fodder over the years, and just this past weekend his ridiculous Calvin Klein ad campaign was parodied throughout Saturday Night Live.

Even so, Comedy Central has determined that television viewers needed an event where this 20-year-old pop heartthrob would be made fun of to his face (and could laugh at himself), and has announced that Mr. Donning a pair of tiny tighty whities, Kate McKinnon offered up an outrageous impersonation of the singer, mugging for the camera one instant then running around, yelling and trying to pants Cecily Strong the next. Bieber will be the headliner and guest of honor at its next “Comedy Central Roast.” The channel, which has previously roasted such enduring celebrities as David Hasselhoff, Donald Trump, Charlie Sheen and James Franco, announced the Bieber event on Tuesday.

In a remarkably similar choice of words, Bieber tweeted out the news: The fact that Bieber was tasked with creating more “source material” for the roast, does raise the specter of whether all of Bieber’s behavior (beef! drag races! spankings! drugs! monkeys!) has just been part of his effort to give Comedy Central the source material they were seeking. Lol.” The comedians taking part in the Bieber roast will be able to cull material from any number of Bieber-related incidents: From the underage drinking and drag racing to egging his neighbor’s house and peeing in a restaurant mop bucket. We’re guessing his recent Calvin Klein underwear ad controversy and the subsequent “SNL” parody — “my peepee’s in there” — gave the network some more incentive to skewer le petit Canadien.

Other honorees over the years—it is an honor, right?—include Joan Rivers, Roseanne Barr, Charlie Sheen, Donald Trump, David Hasselhoff and Bob Saget. In agreeing to be roasted, Bieber joins a laundry list of controversial subjects who have occupied the seat before him, including Joan Rivers, Donald Trump and Roseanne Barr, among many others.
