‘We bent over backwards to get their monkeys in, so they know our laws': Agricultural Minister Barnaby Joyce defends strong stance against Johnny Depp’s ‘illegal’ terriers.

“We feel that had such a system been installed in this section of track, this accident would not have occurred,” says National Transportation Safety Board member Robert Sumwalt. CANBERRA, Australia—Australian quarantine authorities have ordered actor Johnny Depp to fly his dogs Pistol and Boo out of the country by Saturday or they will be put down.

Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce has revealed that the Australian government ‘bent over backwards’ to get monkeys past biosecurity checks for the set of the latest Pirates of the Caribbean film, while defended his strong stance against Johnny Depp’s dogs.I feel sorry for Johnny Depp, who flew into Australia with his two yorkies, presumably hidden in a teacup or his coat pockets, and didn’t declare them. The Taliban spokesman in an email distributed to media says the group targeted the hotel because of the presence of foreigners, including Americans there. Not because now he has to reschedule their flights back to the US, which will probably cost about a trillion dollars, once you factor in the gold dusted Pal I imagine they eat and all of the nannies I expect they have. It is disrupted by a Saudi-led coalition airstrike, fighting between rival sides in a strategic province and shelling by coalition warships west of the port city of Aden.

Depp of smuggling the Yorkshire terriers aboard his private jet when he returned to Australia on April 21 to resume filming of the fifth installment in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie series at Gold Coast studios. “If you start letting movie stars—even though they’ve been the sexiest man alive twice—to come into our nation (with pets), then why don’t we just break laws for everybody?” Mr. Mr Joyce told Channel 10 that the department discovered the dogs were in the country after reports surfaced of them being taken to a local Gold Coast grooming parlour by a handler on Saturday. ‘That’s the deal,’ he said during an interview on 3AW Mornings on Thursday. ‘And if people think that’s a bit harsh, well I’ll tell you what harsh is. The minister told reporters that there was a “process” that needed to be followed with regards to bringing pets over to the country, such as permits and then having them go into quarantine.

There is no single reason for the soaring numbers of those trying to reach Europe, but rather a chain of factors including more ruthless smugglers and the end of a major rescue mission. Existing relationships, local traditions and cooler heads help demonstrators in Madison avoid violence seen in Ferguson and Baltimore — at least so far. The Brisbane Airport Corporation and Hawkers Aviation, which processes VIP arrivals and departures at the airport, has referred queries regarding the dogs arrivals to Australian Customs. Australia’s Department of Agriculture has a strict import law that requires visitors to apply for a pet permit and their animals spend a minimum of 10 days in quarantine, in order to prevent the spread of diseases such as rabies and other parasites. Animal lovers didn’t take too well to the news as an online petition was started on change.org to save Depp’s beloved dogs and has so far amassed a whopping 6982 supporters.

But living in the city, working like a maniac and barely having time to sleep doesn’t really allow me time for looking after myself, let alone a small army of small dogs. The reason you can walk through a park in Brisbane and not have in the back of your mind, ‘What happens if a rabid dog comes out and bites me or bites my kid?’ is because we’ve kept that disease out.

A spokesperson for Jetpets, a company which specialises in global pet transit revealed bringing any kind of pet into Australia is a long and involved process which can take months. Jetpets confirmed these include, a microchip, rabies vaccination, general vaccinations, and a RNATT blood test (Rabies Antibody Neutralising Titre Test). The opposition Labor Party questioned in Parliament whether the government was to blame for the biosecurity breakdown because it had cut the department’s quarantine funding.
