‘Ash vs. Evil Dead’ to premiere everywhere simultaneously on Halloween.

Johnny Depp, who was last seen in “Black Mass” essaying the role of Whitey Bulger, is expected to play the character of father Neil Gaiman’s book ‘Fortunately, the Milk’. (Source: Reuters) Hollywood star Johnny Depp is in early talks to star in feature film adaptation of writer Neil Gaiman’s time-travel tale “Fortunately, the Milk”. “The Lego Movie” makers, Animal Logic Entertainment, is producing the live-action/animation hybrid to be directed by Edgar Wright, reported Variety.German–Irish actor (and handsome shark) Michael Fassbender is currently earning critical acclaim for his portrayal of Steve Jobs in the recent biopic movie of the same name. The story is told from the point of a view of a young boy and his sister, who listen as their father recounts the story of exactly what happened when he stepped out briefly to purchase some milk.

Gaiman, an author and graphic novelist who specializes in darkly imaginative fantasy tales, confirmed the news on Twitter; it was first reported by the Hollywood Reporter. Wright would helm the film, which is intended to be a live-action/animation hybrid which will have a script by Bret McKenzie, the writer known as being one half of the musical comedy duo Flight of the Conchords.

Though he’s dazzling with his realistic portrayal, he’ll soon channel his signature wild-eyed intensity and menacing charm as the lead in a dark, new movie version of “Macbeth” as well as reprise his role as a villainous mutant in a superhero franchise. Wright, whose credits include Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Shaun of the Dead, would direct the film, and Depp, currently on screen in Black Mass, would star and produce. Deadline reports that the premiere of the decades-later sequel series to director Sam Raimi and star Bruce Campbell’s classic horror-comedy films will be broadcast in more than 100 countries. “Fans of The Evil Dead have spoken with great passion and interest around the world, sparking high buyer demand for Ash vs Evil Dead,” said Michael Thornton, Chief Revenue Officer at Starz. “We are delighted to be able to provide flexibility to many of the key buyers serviced by Starz Worldwide Distribution and Starz Digital and thus allow for a wave of local Ash vs Evil Dead worldwide premieres on the ‘groovy’ date of October 31.” It makes sense, based on the trailer. Published last year by HarperCollins, Fortunately, the Milk is a whimsical story about a father who steps out to buy milk for his kids but gets waylaid by aliens, pirates, dinosaurs, and time travel. Of course, this being “Evil Dead”-related, there are some pieces of stylized violence that those of you with squeamish tendencies may want to avoid.

For Wright, the sale happens just as the filmmaker, who last directed 2013’s The World’s End, is in preproduction on Baby Driver starring Ansel Elgort, Lily James and Jon Hamm.
