Watch Jimmy Fallon parody, ‘Jimpire,’ to get psyched for ‘Empire’.

When the “Tonight Show” host adopts “Empire” antihero Lucious Lyon’s trademark turtleneck, paisley scarf and ruthless ambition, he’s no longer Jimmy Fallon — he’s Juicy Jim, head of the “Tonight Show Jimpire.” “I’ve been telling jokes since I was 9 years old in Brooklyn.Sure, Jimmy Fallon does an amazing impression of Terrence Howard as Lucious Lyon of Fox’s “Empire” in this parody, “Jimpire,” which aired Tuesday night.Even Jimmy Fallon isn’t immune to “Empire” fever — the “Tonight Show” host celebrated the Sept. 23 return of the record-breaking Fox drama with a new digital original spoof, “Jimpire,” which saw the late-night host channeling Terrence Howard in an impression that was half Lucious Lyon and half Tony Stark. It was these jokes, these funnies, these ‘ha-has,’ that kept me warm at night growing up in the streets,” he begins a monologue about who will succeed him as the show’s host.

Put a fur coat around Higgins’ shoulders, give him a leopard-print dress and one of these wicked blood-red stiletto nails and his inner Cookie Lyons comes out. But naturally, there’s another fur-wearing, insult-slinging figure who wants to get their hands on the Jimpire — Higgy (Steve Higgins) — who believes he’s entitled to half of Juicy’s kingdom.

All the trappings that make “Empire” such a fun, over-the-top soap, are in Fallon’s parody — from a boo-boo-kitty reference to the “secret” that Quest carries. The short manages to cram in references to memorable “Empire” song “Drip Drop,” Boo Boo Kitty and Andre’s bipolar disorder, as well as weighing in on the presidential debate and squeezing in some memorable cameos from “Empire” stars Howard and Taraji P. Henson — along with current pop culture lightning rod Donald Trump. “Empire” season two premieres Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. on Fox. “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on NBC. And if you don’t know “Empire” — the story of Lucious and Cookie Lyon’s music empire and how they’re managing it with their three sons — you can catch up on who Cookie is with this clip.
