TLC Orders Specials Centered on Duggar Daughters Jill and Jessa.

NEW YORK — Months after a scandal involving a member of the Duggar family shut down TLC’s long-running reality hit “19 Kids and Counting,” the network is resuming its on-air relationship with the Arkansas brood by starring daughters Jill and Jessa in two or more specials.

The untitled specials will center on Dillard, her husband Derick and their infant son as they prepare to move to El Salvador for missionary work, and Seewald, who is expecting her first child with husband Ben on Nov. 1. The sisters most recently appeared on the channel in August in a special, entitled Breaking the Silence, that aimed to raise awareness of child sexual abuse nationwide. In May, their brother confessed to having sexually assaulted several underage girls — including two of his sisters — 12 years ago. “Twelve years ago, as a young teenager I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret,” Duggar said in a statement at the time. “I hurt others, including my family and close friends.

I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation.” He most recently checked himself into rehab in August amid infidelity allegations. A portrait of wholesome family life, it became TLC’s most watched series, averaging 3.2 million viewers, until it was pulled from the air in May, then officially cancelled in July.

Both women participated in that film, titled “Breaking the Silence.” “They thought it was an important issue, and they showed an incredible amount of courage in sharing their story,” Daniels said. “We were struck by that courage, and by how they are moving forward.
