#133 – Fear The Walking Dead – S1, E4: “Not Fade Away”.

After all the stellar casting that has taken place during the offseason, one character remained that absolutely needed to enter for Season 6: Paul “Jesus” Monroe. The casting could pave the way for The Walking Dead to introduce Negan — a villain so dastardly that he makes David Morrissey’s Governor look like a fluffy bunny. We welcome back to the panel this week Mark from SoCal, creator of The Walking Death Pool, a new interactive Walking Dead experience that lets you put your predictive skills up against your fellow Walking Dead fans. According to THR, the actor also has an option for Season 7, and considering the character is still kicking some walker tail in the comics, I can’t think of any good reasons why he wouldn’t stick around for future seasons.

Gimple previously told THR that introducing Negan would be “challenging,” especially given the character’s penchant for f-bombs. “There’s a particular story in that arc that I’m very excited for. But because we know where we’re going, we have some opportunities to play around with it and put some things in that will lead up to [Negan and Alexandria] in different ways yet fulfill the story Robert told to the Nth degree by utilizing some slightly different approaches. As not to give away any major details, I’ll just give off some vague facts about Jesus, who is called that basically because he has long hair and a bunch of facial hair. He enters the lives of Rick and the survivors in a surprising way and shows them that there are other groups out there beyond Alexandria (which is why he probably won’t show up until at least the post-hiatus part of Season 6).

A physically imposing, charismatic, brutal, smart, ferocious, frightening, hilarious, inappropriate, oddly friendly, fun loving sociopath that is both a leader of men and a killer of men. He has both a practical and emotional intelligence, he’s a brilliant strategist, he’s pure, dangerous, murderous, often gleeful id, that still has both discipline and a code. And that is such a rich thing to tell.” Payne, repped by Paradigm, Untitled, Curtis Brown and Felker Toczek, becomes the latest new addition for season six. What makes Jesus such a fantastic character is he’s almost like Daryl in that he’s a seemingly unstoppable badass who is both mentally equipped and physically equipped to live in a post-apocalyptic society. They join a cast that includes a series-high 18 regulars, including the newly promoted Lennie James (Morgan), Tovah Feldshuh (Deanna Monroe), Alexandra Breckenridge (Jessie Anderson) and Austin Nichols (Spencer Monroe).

Born in England, Payne has been seen on TV across the pond in such series as Waterloo Road and Wuthering Heights, and then made his big break here in the short-lived HBO drama Luck.
