Ex-model Janice Dickinson files defamation suit against Bill Cosby after comic’s lawyer insists rape claim is a lie.

Bill Cosby is facing another legal headache after former supermodel Janice Dickinson became the latest alleged sexual assault victim to sue for defamation.

The ex-supermodel, 60, filed her lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court Wednesday claiming Cosby drugged and raped her in 1982 and then ravaged her reputation last November when his camp denied the allegation and branded her a liar. The runway star-turned-TV personality went public with her accusations of Cosby’s inappropriate behaviour in November, claiming he gave her red wine and a mystery pill when she complained of stomach pains during a business dinner in Lake Tahoe, Calif., in 1982. Her complaint is based on sworn statements from Regan and ghostwriter Pablo Fenjves that confirm Dickinson “argued vehemently” but ultimately failed to have the alleged rape included in her 2002 autobiography, lawyer Lisa Bloom said. Dickinson, who is one of over 30 women to accuse the 77-year-old comedian of sexual assault, first spoke out against Cosby on Entertainment Tonight in November. Dickinson’s claim would have been the first allegation of its kind against the beloved comedian in 2002, and “Harper Collins’ legal department would not permit it,” the lawsuit obtained by The News states. “I want justice.

And I remember a lot of pain.” The statute of limitations on Dickinson’s rape claim has long passed, but she is now suing for defamation and emotional distress, just like three other women with similar stories of sexual misconduct, who pressed on with their lawsuits at the beginning of the year. I’m not being paid anything monetarily to do this, it’s just the right thing to do.” In the proposed lawsuit, which Bloom said will be filed Wednesday in California Superior Court, Dickinson and her lawyer accuse Cosby and his legal team of making a “false statement” and that the comments made “were written and published with the goal of making Ms. Dickinson is just one of more than 20 women who have spoken out about similar decades-old incidents involving alleged unwanted advances from the comedian.

But she says she doesn’t regret her decision to make her story public, and hopes that a jury trial in her case will see Cosby pay for what she claims he’s done. “It’s the right time,” Janice said. “I could not let myself be silent. In her book, Dickinson said Cosby made an unwelcome sexual advance and then gave her the “dirtiest, meanest look in the world” when she rebuffed him. “It’s been an embarrassment to my children and my fiancé. Over 40 women have accused Cosby of drugging them or sexually assaulting them in the past few months, but no criminal charges have been filed. (RELATED: Bill Cosby Rambles When Confronted About Rape Allegations) I want to protect all those women that haven’t come forward and show them the love and support worldwide that what happened to me will not happen to another woman.”

Instead, he’s left the task to his lawyers, spokespeople and wife, who have issued various denials and questioned the credibility of some of the women. “My point is, OK, listen to me carefully,” he said. “I’m telling you where the road is out. Cosby has never been charged in any criminal case regarding any of these new accusations from multiple women, and through spokespeople has repeatedly denied that any of the allegations are true.

Now, do you want to go here or do you want to be concerned about who’s giving you the message?” “Cosby just needs to accept that he is a guilty party and he needs to apologize and seek help. He’s trying to move on as if nothing happened, and people know something happened,” Leslie said. “An apology is the only way he can redeem himself and become a better person and change the way he was.” Accusers Tamara Green, Therese Serignese and Linda Traitz, meanwhile, have filed a separate defamation lawsuit against Cosby in federal court in Massachusetts.
