Ex-model Janice Dickinson files defamation suit against Bill Cosby after comic’s lawyer insists rape claim is a lie.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Model Janice Dickinson has sued Bill Cosby for defamation over statements by his representatives that called her claims the comedian raped her in 1982 lies.

Bill Cosby is facing another legal headache after former supermodel Janice Dickinson became the latest alleged sexual assault victim to sue for defamation. After alleging that Bill Cosby drugged and raped her, Janice Dickinson tells ET that she and her lawyer Lisa Bloom will file a lawsuit for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress against the comedian.

The runway star-turned-TV personality went public with her accusations of Cosby’s inappropriate behaviour in November, claiming he gave her red wine and a mystery pill when she complained of stomach pains during a business dinner in Lake Tahoe, Calif., in 1982. Dickinson, who is one of over 30 women to accuse the 77-year-old comedian of sexual assault, first spoke out against Cosby on Entertainment Tonight in November. The suit states Dickinson requested a retraction from Cosby about statements calling her allegations, made last year to “Entertainment Tonight,” a lie.

Dickinson’s claim would have been the first allegation of its kind against the beloved comedian in 2002, and “Harper Collins’ legal department would not permit it,” the lawsuit obtained by The News states. “I want justice. The allegations were first made in an interview with “Entertainment Tonight” after numerous other women accused Cosby of drugging them and inappropriate sexual conduct dating back several decades. Dickinson is just one of more than 20 women who have spoken out about similar decades-old incidents involving alleged unwanted advances from the comedian.

Dickinson an object of ridicule, contempt, hatred or disgrace, and to bring her public and personal humiliation.” “It’s the right time,” Dickinson told ET. “I could not let myself be silent. In her book, Dickinson said Cosby made an unwelcome sexual advance and then gave her the “dirtiest, meanest look in the world” when she rebuffed him. “It’s been an embarrassment to my children and my fiancé. I want to protect all those women that haven’t come forward and show them the love and support worldwide that what happened to me will not happen to another woman.” ET has reached out to Cosby’s lawyers for comment. The statute of limitations to criminally prosecute the actor-comedian has long since passed, as has the statute on civil claims directly related to the incident. Instead, he’s left the task to his lawyers, spokespeople and wife, who have issued various denials and questioned the credibility of some of the women. “My point is, OK, listen to me carefully,” he said. “I’m telling you where the road is out.

Cosby has never been charged in any criminal case regarding any of these new accusations from multiple women, and through spokespeople has repeatedly denied that any of the allegations are true. Now, do you want to go here or do you want to be concerned about who’s giving you the message?” “Cosby just needs to accept that he is a guilty party and he needs to apologize and seek help. He’s trying to move on as if nothing happened, and people know something happened,” Leslie said. “An apology is the only way he can redeem himself and become a better person and change the way he was.” Accusers Tamara Green, Therese Serignese and Linda Traitz, meanwhile, have filed a separate defamation lawsuit against Cosby in federal court in Massachusetts.
