Jamie Lee Curtis Recreates Psycho’s Shower Scene for Scream Queens.

“Scream Queens” star Jamie Lee Curtis has been paying homage to her horror film roots with her role in Fox’s new series, as she revealed to Variety. FOX’s certainly bears similarities to many other films and TV series in the horror genre, but in its first episode, there are no straight-up homages to classic horror movies. But now she’s taking things a step further, with a photo she posted on social media that shows her recreating her mother, Janet Leigh’s, infamous shower scene from “Psycho.” “My entire life I have refused to step into the shower because it belongs to my mother,” she told Variety. “I have attempted to step out of the shadow of my parents for a long time.” “It felt like they’re both gone, and enough time has passed,” she said. “This role has appeared in my life. And now that she’s posted the following image of herself recreating her mother’s iconic shower scene in Psycho (which will appear in “a special ep” of the new series), well, we’re even more excited! It’s unexpected and delightful.” She said she had only one directive for Ryan Murphy and company: “If we’re going to go for it, let’s go for it.

Curtis also stated that it’s from a “special episode” of the FOX horror-comedy series, so perhaps, similar to Glee, which was also created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan, Scream Queens will do tribute-type episodes, allowing for its stars to slip into these memorable horror sequences. Scream Queens, which also stars Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Skyler Samuels, and Oliver Hudson, kicks off with a two-hour series premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 8 p.m. on FOX.
