Everything We Know About the Indictment Suggesting Young Thug and Birdman Tried to Kill Lil Wayne.

An indictment filed in Cobb County last month alleges that there was a conspiracy at work when Lil Wayne’s tour buses were shot up in April, Channel 2 Action News reported Wednesday night. The complex rivalry and tension growing among Lil Wayne, Young Thug, and Birdman has hardly been a secret over the past few months, but a new indictment from the Cobb County courts could suggest that things are far more complicated and serious than fans might have realized.

Jimmy Carlton Winfrey, 25, of Atlanta was arrested June 2 in connection with the shooting, which he did to gain “street cred” with his “Blood” gang members, according to police warrants. Pee Wee or Roscoe (not to be confused with the Atlanta recording artist PeeWee Longway), on 30 criminal counts in relation to allegedly shooting at Lil Wayne’s tour bus in Atlanta. Birdman and Lil Wayne, the former adopted father and son duo that ruled hip hop with their Cash Money and Young Money labels, have been beefing for months.

The charges: aggravated assault, terroristic threats and acts, criminal damage, possession of a firearm by a felon, criminal gang activity, reckless conduct and discharging a weapon near the street. The indictment alleges that Winfrey, Jeffery Lamar Williams, also known as “Young Thug,” and Bryan Williams, also known as “Birdman,” are all members of the gang and were involved in a RICO conspiracy.

Lil Wayne famously declared he wanted off Birdman’s label after repeated delays in the release of his album Tha Carter V, which was slated to come out in October of 2014. Young Thug, a fellow member of Rich Gang alongside Birdman, also fell under the ire of Lil Wayne after he declared he’d release an album under “Tha Carter” banner, something almost sacred to Lil Wayne and his fans.

Now it is important to note that while police searched the home of Young Thug, neither him or Birdman have actually been charged with anything at this moment. This will be an interesting case to follow as more details come out, but again it is just a stain on a genre that already comes under fire for their lyrics. Winfrey allegedly caused $20,000 worth of damage to the buses in which Lil Wayne — whose real name is Dwayne Carter — was traveling about 3 a.m. on April 26 after performing at the Compound night club on Brady Avenue. He has purposely avoided mentioning anything leading up to Lil Wayne’s Free Weezy Album, the media blunder Tyga has become, J Prince’s menacing threat over spanish guitars earlier this year and Drake distancing himself from the label.

It also hurts the countless MCs who craft beautiful and poetic lyrics describing a myriad of topics and highlighting real issues in the hopes that something positive can come about of it. Young Thug “was wanted on an outstanding warrant charging him with terroristic threats stemming from an incident that occurred with the jurisdiction of the Dunwoody police,” Jim Joyner, spokesman for the U.S. Threats were tossed out on Instagram and, most notably, in the video for Young Thug’s “Halftime.” Tensions are still apparently high: Just this past weekend, Birdman reportedly threw a drink at Lil Wayne onstage in Miami.

When it comes to Cash Money itself, Jacquees could be considered an artists with potential as “Come Thru” with Rich Homie Quan and “F’n With Me” are potential bangers even though his aesthetic similarity to Wayne feels awkward. Young Thug], to include Jimmy Winfrey, left an Atlanta location known as the Vault in vehicles and traveled to the [venue] Compound.” Police noticed Winfrey’s car, a white 2015 Chevrolet Camaro, and “observed that Winfrey had an assault rifle in his vehicle and that he was the only occupant of his vehicle.” They tried to detain him, but he fled before they could. After the escort ended, Winfrey allegedly pulled up alongside the two tour buses on Interstate 285 and shots from a .40 caliber handgun and 9mm handgun were fired from the car at the buses. The indictment only strengthens the long-going speculation since the arrest of Young Thug’s tour manager Jimmy Winfrey for his part in an assassination plot against Weezy.

Add this to the fact that Wayne admitted to Birdman orchestrating the lost of his virginity at the age of eleven in a room filled with grown men is disturbing. Thug, for what it’s worth, has made several Instagram posts in recent weeks saying “free Pee Wee” and “free Roscoe.” He was also arrested yesterday on charges of terroristic threats in a separate incident, which is what helped reporter Mike Petchenik of WBS TV uncover the indictment and publicize it in the first place. Not only has Birdman been accused of ripping artists off and using violent intimidation tactics, he’s probably participated in the sexual abuse of a minor. Sure, the former Death Row leader accidentally killed his best friend while attempting to “flee” an ambush in self defence but, these things happen.
