American Horror Story: HotelFX has finally released a follow-up teaser to the announcement video that first revealed that pop star Lady Gaga would be starring in the latest installment of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s anthology series. In the 10-second teaser released by FX Networks on Monday, Gaga’s silver, long-nailed hand is shown ringing the bell at the check-in desk, giving the first clues into her character.

Ryan Murphy, creator of the gory anthology series American Horror Story, recently attended a panel at San Diego’s Comic-Con, along with cast members Emma Roberts, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Angela Bassett.Though Gaga did not appear at the show’s Comic-Con panel in San Diego yesterday (June 12), Murphy took the opportunity to reveal a few more details about her role in the new season. “When you work with someone like her, you sign up for something that is larger than life and I think that’s what you want,” Murphy explained. “Part of her role involves fashion. While on stage in a joint panel for Murphy’s upcoming Fox series Scream Queens, Murphy revealed characters from previous seasons will check into the Hotel. “Characters from previous seasons will come back and check into the hotel.” Murphy said regarding the interconnection between seasons and noted everything will make sense by the end of the series. Here’s a round-up of everything we learnt from the panel, and everything we know so far about the show’s forthcoming fifth season, Hotel, which is due to air in October 2015.

Hotel features Gaga, Matt Bomer, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Chloe Sevigny, Wes Bentley, Evan Peters, Max Greenfield, and Cheyenne Jackson and premieres this October on FX. Meanwhile, we finally got some scoop on Lady Gaga’s character—she will be involved with fashion and she’s working with the costume designers for her character. Murphy is notoriously tight-lipped about AHS, but the creator managed to slip several teases into his discussion about Freak Show and his new Fox comedy, Scream Queens. The designers have been coming out of the woodwork with looks for her.” Murphy also revealed that Gaga approached him about appearing on the show – an offer he immediately accepted. “How it happened with Gaga is she wrote and said, ‘I love the show, would you consider putting me on it?’ And I wrote back, ‘Yes. Since then she has been joined since by an impressive company of castmates, including Kathy Bates, Chloë Sevigny, Matt Bomer, Emma Roberts, Cheyenne Jackson, Wes Bentley, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Finn Wittrock and Max Greenfield.

Other details about Gaga’s small-screen debut: Her character will be highly involved in fashion, and unfortunately, despite all the music on Freak Show, she won’t be singing. Some of the cast names were confirmed at Comic-Con 2015: Matt Bomer will play Donovan, Kathy Bates will play Iris, Angela Bassett is Ramona, Evan Peters will take the role of Mr March, and Sarah Paulson will star as the fantastically-named Hypodermic Sally. Much like the AHS producers on last year’s Comic-Con panel, on Sunday Murphy announced the names of the characters the AHS veterans are set to play. The Supreme herself, Jessica Lange, has confirmed multiple times that she’s not doing AHS anymore, but Murphy teased her possible return in a year or two.

Murphy said his panelists this year are all “bad boys and girls” in this season of AHS and it looks like we already know one big death is on the horizon: Sarah Paulson’s Hypodermic Sally. While her departure had the potential to leave a gaping hole in the line-up, Murphy has said that the show now works as more of an “ensemble piece”, without a true lead character. “I think that the thing that’s different about the season is that before we’ve always been very driven by the Jessica Lange character. The Wes Bentley part is really big, the Matt Bomer part is really big; Evan Peters and Finn Wittrock are really big.” He added: “That’s not to say that the women aren’t [big] either. When it came time for audience question and answer time, Bates revealed a crush on a certain Magic costar of Bomer’s. “Hey Matt, who’s that Armenian guy who did the dances?” Bates asked.

Lucky Comic-Con guests got to experience a dummy replica of the show’s six-storey hotel set, the “real” version of which has just been constructed in Los Angeles, in time for filming later this month. Photos from the event revealed that the hotel is an art deco, Twenties style building, complete with gleaming marble pillars, chandeliers and smartly-uniformed, red hat-wearing staff.
