Actress Halle Berry, actor Olivier Martinez to divorce after 2 years of marriage.

Halle Berry and fellow actor Olivier Martinez are ending their two-year marriage and say they want to proceed with the best interests of their young son in mind.

In this June 13, 2013 file photo, actor and president of the Champs-Elysees Film Festival Olivier Martinez, left, poses with Actress Halle Berry prior to the screening of the film “Things We Lost in the Fire” with the french title “Nos Souvenirs Brules” during the Champs-Elysees Film Festival, at the “Publicis Cinema” in Paris.”It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce,” the couple said in a joint statement on Tuesday. “We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus for what is best for our son (Maceo). “We wish each other nothing but happiness in life, and we hope that you respect our, and most importantly our children’s privacy, as we go through this difficult period.” Berry, 49, appeared to file her divorce paperwork on Monday using pseudonyms, but it could be rejected by the court since she didn’t use their legal names. In that document,“Hal Maria” filed for divorce from “Oliver Martin” and asked for joint custody of their 2-year-old “Mac Martin.” The former couple must now wait to see which petition wins. Martinez filed with Laura Wasser, one of the top divorce lawyers in Los Angeles who has represented high-profile celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, actress Hilary Duff and rapper Wiz Khaklifa, among many others. Berry (l.) was seen over the weekend with her children, Nahla and Maceo, on a playdate with a friend during Halloween festivities at Westfield Village in Woodland Hills.

She is also seeking to avoid child support payments, writing: “Each party to equally share the cost of raising their child.” Berry won a best actress Academy Award in 2002 for Monster’s Ball. Martinez, also 49, stirred up off-screen drama in January when he was caught on video shoving an LAX employee to the ground with his child’s car seat in a bid to escape paparazzi. A lawsuit filed over the incident last week may have inflamed tensions in the marriage leading to the timing of the divorce filing, according to the TMZ report. But a source told the Daily News’ Confidenti@l in March 2014 that the couple was living apart and already in trouble because of their hectic work schedules.

Real-life romance hasn’t gone as well for Berry as the reel kind: the “X-Men” star was previously married to and divorced from former Yankee David Justice, from 1993 to 1997, and R&B singer Eric Benet, from 2001 to 2005.
