Today, the CW has provided a first look at the next set of heroes to soon debut in DC Comics’s ever-growing and interconnected television universe: Hawkman and Hawkgirl. The Thanagarian duo will first appear on episodes of the CW’s “The Flash” (season premiere: Oct. 6) and “Arrow,” (season premiere: Oct. 7) before flying into a more prominent role on yet another CW/DC show. “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” will assemble characters spun out of the Arrow and Flash universe, including the formerly Black and now White Canary (Caity Lotz), the Atom (Brandon Routh), Firestorm (Robbie Amell and Victor Garber) and Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), and will debuting later this season. Hawkgirl/Kendra Saunders (played by Ciara Renee) made a brief appearance in “The Flash’s” Season 1 finale, and Hawkman/Carter Hall (Falk Hentschel) will make his CW debut this fall. Hawkman, aka Carter Hall, is the latest reincarnation of an Egyptian Prince who is fated to reincarnate throughout time for centuries along with his soul mate, Kendra Saunders (aka Hawkgirl).

The two characters will be featured on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow with Brandon Routh, Wentworth Miller, Caity Lotz, Victor Garber, Arthur Darvill and Franz Drameh. One big difference between the two winged warriors is that Hawkman has been able to retain and remember all the memories from his 5,000 years of past lives, whereas Hawkgirl will not. “You’ll get a clear picture of what her origin story is and you’ll actually get a chance to see it,” executive producer Marc Guggenheim told The Hollywood Reporter at Comic-Con. “Fans of the comics will recognize an awful lot. Getting to know her, there’s going to be a lot happening leading up to the crossover, which is serving as a [quasi] pilot for Legends.” The Flash season two premieres Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. and Arrow season four premieres Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. on The CW. Renee’s helmet looks straight out of Bruce Timm’s Justice League cartoon that frequently stared Hawkgirl, while Hentschel’s helmet looks a little Wolverine-esque. (Comic-book Wolverine, that is; the Hugh Jackman movies have never had the guts to try the Wolvie suit, although it did get a deleted-scenes treatment in the most recent Wolverine movie).
