Emmys 2015: Amy Schumer Dedicates First Emmy Win to Sister

Amy Schumer casually drops that there will be two more seasons of ‘Inside Amy Schumer’.

This is what happens when you make a movie like “Trainwreck,” text lewd things to Katie Couric’s husband from her phone, video yourself eat Jake Gyllenhaal’s frozen birthday cake while you’re renting his apartment, and get crowned as comedy’s “It Girl” by Stephen Colbert: you get to announce that you’re blowing The Popsicle Joint Known As Comedy Central in two years. After killing it on the red carpet with her irresistibly uncomfortable brand of humor, the Inside Amy Schumer creator, writer and actress won an Emmy for Best Variety Sketch Series.

The comedian was uncharacteristically flustered during her acceptance speech, thanking the woman who did her smokey eye (“I really like it”), her head writer, “the suits who represent her” and her sister, among others. Garnering laughs from the audience, the “Trainwreck” star added, “Thanks everybody who has helped me — and the girl who gave me sort of a smokey eye.

It was Schumer’s first acceptance speech on the Emmys stage, and she seemed genuinely surprised as she struggled to string some words together but did manage to eek out that the show, which has run for three seasons, would be on for two more. From showing off her fresh-as-hell #Amy squad to keeping cool by storing frozen peas in her genitals, Schumer kept us laughing (and chortling, and snortling) all evening long. I really love it.” Schumer was also nominated for best comedy actress at the Emmy Awards, though “Veep’s” Julia Louis-Dreyfus won the award in that category.

Last weekend at the Creative Arts Emmys, Schumer’s “Inside Amy Schumer” won for outstanding original music and lyrics for the song “Girl You Don’t Need Make Up.”
