Actress Emily Blunt: GOP Debate Made Her Remorse US Citizenship.

Talk about Blunt! The British movie star, who became a naturalized U.S. citizen in August, joked about what it means to be an American while promoting her upcoming movie, Sicario, on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The British actress was the subject of a recent discussion on Fox & Friends because she expressed her regret at becoming an American citizen after watching the Republican presidential debate. ‘I became an American citizen recently, and that night, we watched the Republican debate and I thought, “This was a terrible mistake. When Blunt, 32, appeared on the show, she said she knew about American history, saying, “I know more about the constitution and government than most Americans.” DeGeneres, 57, then convinced the “Edge of Tomorrow” actress to dress up like Lady Liberty and sing patriotic songs in celebration of her new status, reported People Magazine. She stated final week on that though she now has twin citizenship, her oath technically required her to swear non-allegiance to Queen Elizabeth. “I am unsure I am solely thrilled about it,” she advised Kimmel. “Individuals ask me about it the entire day. But it wasn’t the violence depicted in the film that got the British-born actress questioning her decision to leave behind the monarchy – it was the GOP debate on Aug. 6. “That scared me more than this movie,” Blunt says. She has alienated half the country that now will think twice about going to one of her movies.” The co-host was referring to the 2003 incident in which the country girl group the Dixie Chicks publicly denounced President George W. So, it’s kind of typically American—not to be rude—but I had to renounce her in the room but I don’t actually, technically renounce her,” the actress told host Jimmy Kimmel. “They’re like, ‘Just say it.
