First trailer for Pixar sequel Finding Dory washes up.

Thirteen years after Pixar delivered one of their biggest hits with Finding Nemo, the animation studio is diving back into familiar waters with a sequel centered on the most beloved supporting character from the original film.Ellen DeGeneres released the trailer for Disney-Pixar’s upcoming sequel to “Finding Nemo” through her YouTube channel Tuesday, offering glimmers of the film’s premise and her familiar voice in the lead role.

The comedian returns as the voice of Dory in the highly-anticipated flick, which sees the lovable yet memory-challenged fish on a quest to find her family. Tuesday saw the arrival of the first trailer for Finding Dory, and this early glimpse at Pixar’s latest offering shifts the spotlight onto the eponymous surgeonfish (once again voiced by Ellen Degeneres), whose optimism is as endless as her memory is short. Directed by Andrew Stanton (“Finding Nemo,” “Wall-E”), “Finding Dory” follows the adventures of Dory, the absent-minded blue tang played by DeGeneres in the original film in 2003.

The trailer shows Dory telling her undersea pals, including Nemo and his dad Marlin (Albert Brooks), that she has experienced a memory about her mysterious past. The film’s director Andrew Stanton said at August’s D23 Expo that he was inspired to make the sequel because he “wanted to know that if this charming, forgetful fish ever got lost again, that she would be OK.” Finding Dory hits theaters on June 17th, 2016. 2015 may not bring everything that Back to the Future II promised it would: flying cars, self-lacing shoes, we don’t see ’em happening over the next 12 months. (Then again, don’t bet against Nike.) But this year will definitely pack plenty of punch when it comes to cultural happenings.

The trailer bills “Finding Dory” as “An unforgettable adventure she probably won’t remember.” The movie is scheduled for release June 17, 2016. Mad Max will roar back out of the apocalypse while Mad Men rides off into the sunset, rock’s Antichrist Superstar and hip-hop’s Yeezus will rise again.
