Donald Trump becomes sole owner of Miss Universe.

Donald Trump spokesman Michael Cohen confirmed the Republican presidential hopeful has purchased NBC’s half of the Miss Universe Organization and settled all lawsuits against the media company. NEW YORK, United States (AFP ) — Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump announced he has purchased NBC’s half of Miss Universe Friday, taking sole ownership after the station refused to broadcast the pageant in July.

NBC and Spanish-language Univision both declined to air the show following the business mogul’s controversial comments on Mexican immigrants, leading to a breakdown in their relationship. The network said in June it was severing ties with Trump because of comments he made about Mexican immigrants during his presidential campaign kickoff speech. Mr Trump had starred on the network as host of The Celebrity Apprentice, but he angered NBC and other companies with his strident and controversial comments this summer about illegal migrants. At the time, NBC said it would no longer air the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants, which had been a joint venture between the company and Trump.

A CNN/ORC poll found Trump surging to 32 per cent support nationally, becoming the first in the broad Republican field to top 30 per cent in the race for the White House. The announcement from the the Republican front-runner came hours before he was scheduled to tape a guest appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for Friday night’s airing.
