‘Doctor Who’ fans: What questions do you have for Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman?.

Maisie Williams, Jenna Coleman and Michelle Gomez all pop up in the new promo, which sees the action take a darker turn but not without some more light-hearted moments. The trailer for the ninth season of the long-running sci-fi series debuted at Comic-Con on Thursday and promises monsters old and new, a city of Daleks, deadly mercenaries and ghosts galore.Although it was his first time at the Con, it didn’t take long for Capaldi to learn how to get the crowd going. “I can’t hear you at the back,” he said, igniting roars from the crowd.

Peter Capaldi’s Doctor can be seen rocking out, hugging Clara and at the very end of the trailer looking surprised when he confronts Maisie’s character. Take a look at the trailer: Moffat famously refuses to reveal anything about upcoming plot points on the show, so what follows is a list of the extremely vague teases offered by the panel and our own educated guesses about what might be happening this season: —What’s the relationship like between The Doctor and Clara this season? “There’s a freedom, I think,” said Coleman. “It’s our glory years. The good Doctor won’t return to our timeline until this fall, when Peter Capaldi’s second season of Doctor Who lands on our television screens, and we know that’s making some of you feel like the girl who waited. The trailer, after a images of new aliens, new planets, and the Doctor playing the guitar, ends with a shot of Game of Thrones actor Maisie Williams as one of the show’s new human (well, human-looking) characters.

A big point of discussion on the panel was the shocking revelation that Missy is a female incarnation of the Master. “I think he or she or it is everybody’s idea of the kind of the best villain you could have. Luckily for you and us, EW will be chatting it up soon with Capaldi and his companion, Jenna Coleman, who will be coming hot off their Hall H panel at Comic Con. But I sense him running from something, that even he does not yet understand.’ Talking about his adventures with Clara, he said: ‘They’ve suddenly realised that they are the most fortunate people in all of time and space and are hell-bent on adventure.

It’s all about pushing the adventure right up to the edge.” WHAT THIS MIGHT MEAN: In the wake of last year’s devastating Danny Pink subplot, this season will be more explicitly “fun,” more focused on the pair’s adventures and less focused on Clara’s life on Earth. We have a whole host of questions we can’t wait to try to make them answer about the Whoniverse past, present, and future, but right now we want to know what you want to know. So how will Clara juggle her job as a teacher and time-traveling adventures going forward? “She’s a multi-tasker I think but…. it becomes addictive,” said Coleman.

Practically no one moved an inch when the hall opened: most of the audience had been waiting outside for hours at least – days, in some cases – and simply packed a lunch and stayed all day to see Thursday’s lineup of panels. Is he a nice guy? “He’s a laugh, he’s great-looking, he’s terrifically lithe for his age,” Capaldi responded. “We live in a world where everyeone’s so easy and everything’s so accessible, and the Doctor’s mysterious! An audience member inquired: Is there any other Companion from Who history that Doctor #12 would like to see? “I think he’d like to see his granddaughter,” he said, to loud cheers.
