Box Cutters and Twin Towers Cakes: Rock Star Holds 9/11-Themed Wedding.

Not only did the quirky crooner choose a Sept. 11 theme that included wedding cakes baked in the shape of the fallen Twin Towers, he gave his ghoulish guests real box cutters as presents. THE new wave band Devo may have been decent at writing a catchy song back in the 80s, but the co-founder of the group, Jerry Casale, hit a sour note with his 9/11 themed wedding.

According to TMZ, the rock star married Krista Napp at a Santa Monica restaurant on the 14th anniversary of the terrorist attacks, and remembrances of that day were prevalent throughout their entire ceremony.Devo singer and bassist Jerry Casale got married Friday in Los Angeles, throwing a September 11-themed wedding reception with a Twin Towers cake and box cutter party favors.

As shown in the images obtained by TMZ below, the couple chose a wedding cake resembling the fallen towers with their faces on the top of the cakes, and handed out personalised box cutters to guests as parting gifts. My brother turned to ashes as the South Tower fell on him and people died at the Pentagon because of box cutters.” Speculating on why Casale might do something like his, Miller wrote, “It seems like maybe they just needed to bring attention to themselves again as they didn’t exactly have staying power with my generation. TMZ spoke to guest at the couple’s reception who said others guests were not upset by the controversial theme, and vouched for the groom saying he has a “real heart as an artist, and is a super sweet guy.” They gave their friends actual field cutters as social gathering favors, and desk setting playing cards have been emblazoned with “Gerald & Krista” on a field cutter. Casalelater explained to TMZ that they chose to get married on 9/11 because it landed on the last Friday that they could hold their wedding before their license expired.

Our family just celebrated the Jewish holiday last night for the 14th year without him at the table.” In addition to the pioneering post-punk rock band Devo, Casale headed an outfit called “Jihad Jerry & The Evildoers” which put out a album in 2005 called “Mine is Not a Holy War.” Devo, which Casale co-founded in 1972 with his late brother Bob, and Mark and Bob Mothersbaugh, are famous for their quirky brand of humor with songs like “Whip It” and “Through Being Cool.” Their name is short for “de-evolution.” Casale’s wedding photos surfaced three days after “Entourage” star Adrian Grenier sparked his own controversy on social media over a Instagram post that also paid tribute to the 1.4 million Iraqis who died in the U.S.-led war in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.
