DC vs. Marvel: ‘Captain America 3′ Actor Sebastian Stan Fires Back at ‘Batman …

Batman V Superman Is The Man Of Steel Sequel You Deserve.

In a new interview with Collider focused on the next Avengers film, Stan fires back at comments “Batman v Superman” director Zack Snyder made a few weeks back: “I feel like Batman and Superman are transcendent of superhero movies in a way, because they’re Batman and Superman,” Snyder told The Daily Best. “They’re not just, like, the flavor of the week Ant-Man — not to be mean, but whatever it is. During a recent The Martian interview with Sebastian Stan, Collider asked the Civil War star about the ways in which that film will be “a reboot and reinvention” for Marvel.Between Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice forcing Superman to share fight scenes with Batman, Warner Bros’ alleged insistence on more Batman screen time, and questions on whether an official Man of Steel 2 will come someday, the second new Superman movie of the new DC universe doesn’t feel like a real Superman sequel. What is the next Blank-Man?” “I’m sitting here and I’m listening to you and I’m thinking, ‘Do I want to fire some shots at DC right now, at Zack Snyder?'” Stan said. “I would say we’re still making something very original in our own way.

I mean, the Russos are coming in and taking something people are used to and they’re shaping it up and changing it in a very different way.” “They’re not trying to mimic a better Christopher Nolan movie or something like that,” Stan said, alluding to DC/Warner Bros. future films, which will, no doubt be compared to Nolan’s epic “Dark Knight” trilogy. Perhaps he meant a standalone Superman after the Justice League is formed and after Superman has won the Earth’s trust would be more ‘interesting’ — but more fans probably want George Miller or someone like him to lend his take on that than Snyder at this point. In all seriousness, comparisons between Marvel and DC seem like a waste of energy–they’re very different entities, and that’s not a bad thing. (It’s like comparing apples and incredibly serious oranges!) But there’s also something satisfying for me about seeing Marvel actors passionately defending the MCU as a whole–it’s validating to see that they have as much passion for the franchise as fans do. Snyder’s comments don’t rule out the possibility of another Superman solo film — they just indicate that Superman will have to share the spotlight for his first sequel. Then again, Henry Cavill has barely had a line in each of the first two trailers, while most of the speculation has centered around Ben Affleck’s new Batman, Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex, and the introduction of Wonder Woman and Aquaman.

Judging by how liberally the upcoming Suicide Squad draws from The Dark Knight’s mythos, it has become abundantly clear that Batman has been deemed a safer foundation for this universe. He can make the best case by ensuring that Superman isn’t overshadowed by Affleck’s Bat-debut, the other new superheroes and Justice League teasers after all, despite how the crowded set up may make that a tall order for him.
