Dane Cook Responds to Miley Cyrus Romance Rumors With a Joke, Of Course.

The 22-year-old MTV Video Music Award host and the 43-year-old funnyman have reportedly been friends for years and even posted a photo together on Instagram after Cyrus’ former boyfriend Patrick Schwarzenegger was caught licking salt of a model during a round of tequila shots on spring break in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, in March. “Cruelty is something … we should investigate as people,” Jeremy Scott told the Daily News’ Confidenti@l column during the premiere of his documentary, “Jeremy Scott: The People’s Designer,” at New York’s Paris Theatre on Tuesday. “We should try and eradicate it.” “I know that sounds pie-in-the-sky and a grandiose, hippie idea,” he continued, “but really, if you thought about not investing the negativity and just think about something else you like, I just think it would be a nicer world.” Scott, 40, spoke specifically to the barrage of criticism heaped on his good friend Miley Cyrus by media and celebrities alike for her barely-there wardrobe choices. “She’s not a self-absorbed, vapid pop star,” he said of the 22-year-old pop star, whom he called “such a genuine person.” “I never understand why people get upset about what people wear or what they don’t wear in some cases — I think it’s very trivial.” Scott applauded the “Wrecking Ball” singer’s recent “Jimmy Kimmel Live” appearance, during which she remained virtually topless (save for some heart-shaped pasties) and defended her exhibitionist clothing choices. “I’m sure [my dad would] maybe rather not have me have my tits out all the time,” Cyrus told Kimmel. “But he’d rather me have my tits out and be a good person than have a shirt on and be a b—-.” Scott, whose documentary debuts Friday, revealed a series of ’60s mod-inspired skirts and tops on Monday at New York Fashion Week. The designer, who sprung from “dirt-poor” Missouri farm life to a career in high fashion, also said he hopes that the “American success story” he embodies in the documentary inspires viewers to pursue their dreams, failure and rejection be damned. “I don’t care if you want to sell hot dogs, whatever it is that you want to do — there’s going to be someone telling you that you’re not good enough and someone that kicks you down,” he said. “It’s what you do with those rejections and those moments that define where you’ll go.” The pair have been spotted in the middle of some hot and heavy PDA on more than one occasion—making out up against a wall, grabbing each other’s butts, holding hands on the way to dinner, hanging out on top of giant dinosaurs, and even sharing a churro, Lady and the Tramp style.

Then, in March this year – shortly after her split with Patrick Schwarzenegger – Miley reposted a picture Dane put on Instagram which read: “Don’t you ever let someone treat you like a yellow Starburst. You are a pink Starburst.” If you’ve not got the foggiest who Dane is (we had to have a bit of a Google) he starred in Good Luck Chuck and was in Employee Of The Month with his ex girlfriend Jessica Simpson. Miley’s never hidden her sexuality, telling Time magazine in June that she didn’t want to be defined by gender stereotypes when it came to relationships, saying: “I don’t associate men and protection necessarily. The singer opened up about her love life, and revealed that she’s single. “I’m pansexual, but I’m not in a relationship,” she said in the August issue of Elle UK “I’m 22, I’m going on dates, but I change my style every two weeks, let alone who I’m with.”
