Chrissy Teigen Wages War Against Instagram’s Nipple Ban.

They were removed under the site’s Terms Of Use: ‘You may not post violent, nude, partially nude, discriminatory, unlawful, infringing, hateful, pornographic or sexually suggestive photos or other content via the Service.’ For the shoot she was joined by the likes of Emily Ratajkowski from the Blurred Lines video, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Irina Shayk and on her original post she wrote: ‘Honored to be in the company of such gorgeous women.’ The (Female) Nipple, several celebs including Miley Cyrus, Madonna, Scout Willis and Rihanna have come out in favor of the letting the nipple shine on the social media app. (You may remember the #FreeTheNipple campaign that flooded feeds a while back.) And now, Chrissy Teigen has officially waged war on Instagram’s rather ambiguous nudity guidelines. While Gone Girl actress Emily, 24, flaunts plenty of cleavage in a pale pink lace slip and matching pink booties as she pouts provocatively into camera.

After posting a topless photo from a spread in W magazine (ironically entitled, “Privacy Settings: The world’s most beautiful — and followed — show a side you won’t see on social media”) which also starred supermodels Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, Joan Smalls and Lily Aldridge, Instagram overlords deemed the photo inappropriate and swiftly removed it. For her shots, John Legend’s wife Chrissy Teigen straddles a chair in a pair in a pair of white knee-high boots and high waisted pants but nothing else. Teigen responded on Twitter with a daunting warning: “the nipple has been temporarily silenced but she will be back, oh yes, she will be back.” And back “she” came just a few moments later when Teigen posted three filtered versions of the photo that made it to look like an oil painting, a black and white pencil sketch, and a colored pencil sketch, likely as a response to a loophole in Instagram’s user guidelines, which read that while female nipples are prohibited, “Nudity in photos of paintings and sculptures is OK.” The 29-year-old captioned the filtered photos, “ok what if it’s this classy oil painting,” followed by, “or this pencil sketch,” and “or this colored pencil sketch I just knocked out.” Unfortunately, Instagram found that these masterpieces (which Mic. captured) also violated their nudity policy and removed them as well. I actually am better in less clothing.” Other famous faces to grace the pages of the August Pop issue include Joan Smalls, Lily Aldrige, Bella Hadid, Anna Ewers, Barbara Palvin and Doutzen Kroes. Unlike Rihanna, who memorably deleted her Instagram account following her nipple censorship, Teigen has already returned to Instagram business as usual — which for her includes plenty of dogs, food and a partially naked (i.e., furless) cat. (Topless felines, it appears, do not violate Instagram’s rules.)

In the accompanying interview, the models talk about social media and the secret to the best selfies, feeling comfortable in their own skin, and taking control of how they are portrayed and perceived. W fashion director Edward Enninful on the inspiration for the shoot: “With social media as their platform for expression, models captivate audiences in new ways, their power to seduce – fans and brands alike – stronger than ever. “As we conceptualized this portfolio for our Pop issue, we wanted to explore this theme, commenting on the ideas of voyeurism, privacy, and censorship vs. self-expression on social media.”
