Chris Brown Tries to Win His Girl Back in “Anyway” Video.

The countdown to the Dec. 18 release of Chris Brown’s new album Royalty began in earnest at Hyde Sunset last night (Dec. 15). Chris Brown is set to drop his third studio album in two years this Friday when Royalty hits shelves, but before then, Breezy’s got yet another video from the album. “Anyway” features Tayla Parx, one of the album’s few guest spots, and puts CB in that dance R&B meets house space that he’s occupied so well and frequently over recent years.( It’s been nearly 7 years since the infamous Chris Brown attack on Rihanna which happened just one night before the 2009 Grammy Awards.Just three days ahead of the pop star’s release of Royalty, Breezy held a listening party for his buddies in the music industry at HYDE Sunset: Kitchen + Cocktails in West Hollywood.

The intimate Los Angeles venue was the locale for an invite-only listening party on behalf of the Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter’s latest RCA project. As things reach their conclusion, Brown is able to win her back, but the video closes with an odd sequence in which the singer punches the other would-be man in the face. Since 2009, Rihanna has had her face plastered across television screens as the poster girl for domestic violence leaving Chris Brown a.k.a C Breezy to be painted as the monstrous abuser.

The star’s personal life has long overshadowed his musical output, which has been a real shame because he is a genuinely talented guy with a lot to offer. Sporting a San Francisco 49ers jacket, jeans and a maroon cap, an enthusiastic Brown let Royalty — named after his year-old daughter — do all the talking. His last studio album was 2014’s X and since then he’s released collaboration album Fan of a Fan with Tyga and dropped a surprise mixtape Before the Party. Earlier this week, the singer dropped a visual for “Back To Sleep” and “Wrist.” But it’s his latest video for “Anyway” that seems to be getting all the buzz. Stationed inside a banquette at the front of the room, the singer alternately snapped off some signature dance moves and mouthed song lyrics as various tracks were played.

In November of 2009, Rihanna stated in a 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer, “The more in love we became, the more dangerous we became for each other, equally as dangerous”, regarding her relationship with Chris Brown. The 6-minute clip shows a woman, who actually favors Tran, answering Brown’s phone call in the middle of the night saying: “Hello, where are you … You see you always do this. Liquor, Zero, Back to Sleep and Fine by Me have all been made available to fans prior to the album’s release with none of them having entered the Top 40 yet. Preceded by the first show at Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom on Dec. 13, the final stop will be Los Angeles’ Hollywood Palladium on the album’s day of release.

I’m done.” Throughout the video, the woman claims she doesn’t have a boyfriend anymore, however, much like the beginning of Brown and Tran’s relationship, the actress takes Chris back. In this month’s edition of Vanity Fair, Rihanna explained that she thought she was that girl who could change Chris Brown, that she was his guardian angel.

Rihanna also stated ” It’s in the past, and I don’t want to say, ‘Get over it’, because it’s a very serious thing that is still relevant, it’s still real”. With the song sentiments being very similar it’s hard to single out any tracks but the best of the bunch is the soulful Make Love or the dancefloor jam Anyway with Tayla Parx. Elsewhere on the album Brown shows rare self-awareness on the punchy No Filter, leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination on Little Bit where he sings about his penis, and borrows Janet Jackson’s sexy rhythms on Discover. C Breezy has proven he is capable of using his words to settle disputes, as he and the mother of Royalty recently reached an agreement to co-parent their gorgeous daughter.

When he hits the jackpot as he has done with hits such as Beautiful People, Yeah 3x, With You and Wall to Wall, he’s an excellent star but this set is sadly just a bit cringeworthy.
