Check Out Rihanna’s New Song Featuring Paul McCartney and Kanye West.

“I’m about four, five seconds from wildin’ ” Rihanna’s soulful Caribbean tone belts over what sounds like McCartney’s guitar and in between Kanye’s rapping. Almost a year since the 26-year-old released her last single, Rihanna is joined by the ex-Beatles legend, while West has previously collaborated with both Rihanna and Macca separately. The stripped-back track called ‘Four Five Seconds’ features Rihanna on vocals while The Beatles star McCartney plays on a guitar in the background and Kanye West raps.Rihanna‘s returned with an all-star cast in tow, passing up the club-ready sounds her singles are known for in favor of a stripped down, acoustic approach.

That song, “Four Five Seconds,” has arrived online, and though it’s unclear whether it will feature on West or Rihanna’s new album, it marks a striking departure for both artists. West had issued his own out-of-nowhere mind-meld with the ex-Beatle on New Year’s Eve, titled “Only One.” Much like “Only One,” “FourFiveSeconds” couldn’t be more stripped down. The acoustic song, which sounds very much like a demo version of what most would expect of a finished track, is very different to Rihanna’s previous material Rihanna and West share vocal duties, with Macca on acoustic guitar, on the ramshackle but charming new track which is already available as a pre-order on iTunes.

This is Rihanna’s first new music in two years, her last album Unapologetic was released back in 2012 and included the singles ‘We Found Love’ and ‘Where Have You Been’’. The pop singer shared the new single “FourFiveSeconds” last night and the three-minute song features special guests Kanye West, Paul McCartney, rapper Ty Dolla $ign and the Dirty Projectors‘s frontman Dave Longstreth. Paul McCartney supplies some gentle acoustic strumming as West and Rihanna belt out a deeply personal, hugely melodic, and country-tinged tune about heartbreak and redemption. The song’s lyrics feature Rihanna singing “all of my kindness is taken for weakness,” while West’s vocals are all about about optimism…and going to jail.

It’s only the second new Kanye song we’ve heard, but it’s worth noting that it shares a few traits with “Only One”—sensitive, confessional songwriting, sparse and acoustic instrumentation, and not a drum beat in sight. When Only One was released, a spokesperson for West said that the song would be the first “publicly available recording from what has become a prolific musical collaboration between these two legendary artists.” At the time a statement noted, it began with “a simple brainstorming session between the two, with McCartney improvising on the keyboards and Kanye vocally sketching and shaping ideas in a stream-of-consciousness riff.” The unlikely collaboration isn’t so surprising if you’ve heard “Only One,” the song West and McCartney released on New Year’s Eve. (Kim Kardashian tweeted that it makes her cry every time she hears it.) The duo has said they’ve been working together since early 2014. After the song was released last year, some Kanye fans took to Twitter to praise Kanye for “shining light on unknown artists” unaware that McCartney is a musical icon. Last week at the IHeartRadio Summit in Los Angeles, West delivered a 45-minute monologue about his work and his collaboration with the knighted rock star, Rolling Stone reported.

Rihanna’s new single is her first piece of new music since 2012′s “Unapologetic,” which yielded seven singles, including “Diamonds” and “Stay.” For McCartney, it’s his second high-profile collaboration with West this year. The lyrics express emotions ranging from the flip to the resigned. “Might get a little drunk/I say what’s on my mind/I might do a little time,” Ri sings, “cause all my kindness/is taken for weakness.” The star had hinted for some time that a new album, her eighth, would be forthcoming early this year.
