Britney Spears Pranks Three Bodyguards With Joe Jonas and Neil Patrick Harris …

Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris.

The “I’m a Slave 4 U” singer took part in a totally hilarious sketch during Neil Patrick Harris’ new late-night variety show Best Time Ever on Tuesday, Sept. 22, pretending to interview potential new bodyguards, while saying only the things Harris and Joe Jonas told her to. In a new segment called “Voices in Your Head,” Harris and Jonas team up with Spears in Las Vegas, and the pop star has to follow their instructions as she interviews potential bodyguards for some bound-to-be hilarious results.

As Harris, 42, and Jonas, 26, sat in the studio, ready to remote operate a willing Spears, a group of unsuspecting wannabe bodyguards were introduced to the pop sensation, and were somewhat surprised by what they discovered. The first bodyguard was met by cute Spears who announced (on Harris’ orders) that she was the “one and only Britney Spears” and demanded her hand be kissed. “How strong are you?” Spears asked, wide-eyed with expectation. However, don’t expect too much change. “It’s not in our design to start from scratch and redo again, because we already have eight episodes in play.

The first episode boasted an unwieldy and hilarious mix of hidden-camera punking, celebrity challenges and several other zany stunts, including acrobats on pogo sticks – Reese Witherspoon even guest-starred as the night’s celebrity announcer. But we certainly want to make it the most enjoyable hour for everyone,” Harris said. “I think I need time to breathe in the opening act and be a little more personable, less hyper-scripted. Following her orders, Spears held out her hand. “Hi, it’s Britney, bitch,” the 33-year-old performer told her visitor as directed, reducing the enormous bodyguard into nervous giggles. Third time around, Spears showed off her (distinctly unimpressive) juggling skills on Harris’ instructions. “Look what I can do!” she said, reducing hunky applicant Wesley to embarrassed laughter, before proclaiming him cooler than Batman.

Harris said the show will try to better incorporate live social media going forward. “Part of the Twitter responses will be in my opening monologue, because some of the reactions to what we did were crazy and worth commenting on,” Harris said. “We’re also doing a whole segment in future episodes where it’s sort of a call to action. Watch the whole hilarious video above and see what happens when Brit bursts into a high-octane dance routine and instructs her poor would-be bodyguards to stay near her at all times! The sing-along segment, which featured Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive” and was widely lauded as one of the night’s most successful bits, will feature Bonnie Tyler this time around.

I would say his wife but there are fair time allotments for every candidate and we only have eight shows, so I don’t think we’d be allowed to have Hillary on board. But Bill’s got a great voice and he’s a super cool guy.” Another of the more successful bits, the wild extravaganza End-of-Show Show, will also return this week, now with more Cirque du Soleil. The way that he smiles is perfectly in line with his sense of humor,” Harris said. “It’s great for something like the Emmys, which needs to take itself seriously but not too much.”
