Indictment alleges conspiracy in Lil Wayne tour bus shooting.

ATLANTA — An indictment says a man charged with shooting into Lil Wayne’s tour buses on a Georgia highway called cellphones linked to two rival rappers before and after the gunfire. An indictment filed in Cobb County last month alleges that there was a conspiracy at work when Lil Wayne’s tour buses were shot up in April, Channel 2 Action News reported Wednesday night.

Jimmy Carlton Winfrey, 25, of Atlanta was arrested June 2 in connection with the shooting, which he did to gain “street cred” with his “Blood” gang members, according to police warrants. The indictment says the gunshots following Lil Wayne’s Atlanta performance April 26 stemmed from feuding between him and rappers Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffrey Williams, and Birdman, whose name is Bryan Williams. The indictment alleges that Winfrey, Jeffery Lamar Williams, also known as “Young Thug,” and Bryan Williams, also known as “Birdman,” are all members of the gang and were involved in a RICO conspiracy. The rapper’s legal team claimed the label breached his contract by withholding money he’s owed for his album ‘Tha Carter V,’ which was due to release months ago but was withheld by the label.

Although neither Birdman nor Young Thug face charges in relation to the shooting – in which no one was hurt – prosecutors say they were working with Winfrey.
