Affleck, Garner do the family thing amid breakup rumors.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner put up a united family front in Santa Monica, Calif., yesterday amid reports that their almost-10-year marriage is kaput. The Cambridge homey and his “Alias” star bride stepped out for lunch together then took their two daughters, Violet, 9, and Seraphina, 6, for an after-school treat at a frozen yogurt shop. The actor couple, who have three children together, Violet, 10, Seraphina, six, and Samuel, three, are reportedly considering splitting after nearly 10 years of marriage, and the ’13 Going On 30′ star has been seeing a therapist to deal with the breakup.

The Hollywood couple were alleged to be deciding their future together, with new claims suggesting that the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star has secretly been talking to top divorce lawyers. “Right now, it’s just coming up with a strategy and whether or not it makes sense for Ben to do it quietly and jointly so there is no battle, or to do it on his own,” the insider said. The couple, whose 10-year anniversary is coming up on 29 June, haven’t been seen together in public for a month, and Ben, 42, has been spotted without his wedding ring in Canada while Jennifer celebrated her 43rd birthday on 17 April without him, but with her friends who think the ‘Gone Girl’ star is a “horrible fit”. The rumours began after the couple appeared to spend a big amount of time apart, with 43-year-old Garner working on her latest movie, Nine Lives in Montreal, Canada. Speaking to Radar Online, the source said: “Often, when Ben and Jen have a problem, they just agree to ride it out and be miserable together until they can get some time apart,” the insider revealed.

The outing comes after reports in OK! magazine and the National Enquirer that the two have already separated and are headed for a $150 million divorce. AS tensions in the South China Sea between the United States and China continue to rise, the US Navy and Air Force are quietly gearing up to fight a war in the disputed region.

Even though the pair took their adorable kids out for ice cream together yesterday, and both have their wedding bands on – the source claims that there’s no going back. Both sides say they don’t want any military confrontation on China’s extensive coastal waters, but both are acting as if a military conflict is increasingly likely.

The star couple have been busy with their work recently, with Garner traveling back and forth to Montreal to film the comedy “Nine Lives” and Affleck in Detroit playing the Caped Crusader. Such is the thesis of an important new book just out, The China Dream, by Professor General Liu Mingfu, a leading Chinese military thinker and commentator who speaks with the voice of China’s military.

They continued: “Ben wants the official statement to come out a few weeks before their 10th anniversary June 29 – which he hopes will give enough time for the news to die down by the time he has to promote Batman v Superman and the other movies he has coming out next year. She told Yahoo News: “You just go on a ride together because you don’t know who you’re going to be when you first have a baby and you don’t know who [your partner] is going to be.

History is replete with examples of rising powers eventually going to war with the status quo powers resisting their rival’s economic and military growth. By 2030, China will be the world’s largest economy in absolute terms (today it rivals the US in purchasing power parity), regaining the geopolitical primacy it formerly enjoyed until the 1500’s when it was the world’s leading economic power. He insists that China has no territorial ambitions and never will. “China suffered 470 foreign invasions within 65 years from 1840 to 1905,” asserts Liu, though incursions would be a more accurate term. America, according to the undiplomatic Liu, is a paranoid giant, afraid of the outside world and addicted to the need for enemies abroad. “Americans feel lost without any enemy.” Washington’s occupation and despoliation of so many countries, notably in the Muslim world, generates endless enemies and a war psychosis.

Liu asserts that China is devoted to peaceful relations, non-interference in other nations, and the desire to help build world prosperity, not just its own power or political system. What’s more, Liu modestly asserts, China should lead world development since Chinese are more intelligent and cultured than any other people and heirs to a 5,000-year history! Interestingly, Liu depicts the 1950 Korean War as a major victory for China because it showed that an Asian nation could fight off the world’s greatest military power. Second, as I read Liu’s panegyric to Chinese greatness and peaceful humanism, I kept recalling Lord Acton’s wise maxim about absolute power corrupting absolutely.
