That’s the take-home message from Swift’s much-awaited music video for her latest single, “Bad Blood”, which aired at the top of the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night. It was a day of sibling support: Taylor attended the commencement ceremony in Indiana before whisking her little brother to Las Vegas to watch her sweep the awards show and celebrate afterwards with her squad. “Last night was a wild ride #DoneWithCollege,” he captioned a photobooth strip of three prop-heavy photos of Swift, Taylor, her rumored boyfriend Calvin Harris, Taylor’s bestie Ed Sheeran and One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan.

For days, Swift has been tweeting mysterious, scary-looking clues about the video to her 57 million followers, and internet anticipation reached a fever pitch over the weekend. Taylor and Harris look extra cozy in the photos – no word on whether One Direction member and former Taylor love interest Harry Styles was also in attendance. Taylor shared a behind-the-scenes video from the Bad Blood set on Instagram, where we learned that not only does she do (some of) her own stunts, but that the video’s physical feats didn’t always go as planned. “I forgot to keep running…but I’m fine!” Taylor assures the rest of the set, who definitely thought they had Tay’s (bad) blood on their hands. In typical Swift fashion, she never mentions Perry by name, but has dropped enough clues in interviews that it’s fairly obvious that the former friends had a falling-out.

The all-female army of supermodels and actresses marches across an abandoned city, a huge fire blazing in the background as they go to fight Swift’s enemy once more. But beneath the sleek action-movie video production values, Swift sends a rather chilling underlying message about power in Hollywood: in case you didn’t know it before, she truly has become of the most powerful women in show business.

Why else would she gather a collection of stars across all genres, all ages and all walks of life to come together as she sings a song about an enemy? The video featured quite the range of celebrities: some of her well-documented best friends, including supermodels Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid, Martha Hunt, Lily Aldridge and Cara Delevingne. With her star-studded line-up, Taylor Swift is letting everyone know that she has the access, status and power to land a slew of top celebrities who will drop everything to do her a favour – not to mention appear in a video that requires some of them to dress up in leather outfits and throw weapons.
