Anti-Gay Michigan Pastor Outed Seeking Sex On Grindr.

MIDLAND (CBS Detroit) An associate pastor known for anti-gay and transgender posts on social media was outed yesterday for seeking sex on gay-themed app Grindr.

A pastor who reportedly opposes homosexuality and has made negative comments about the transgender movement recently resigned from his church position following the revelation that he had a profile on Grindr, a hookup app for gay men.A Lutheran pastor in Michigan resigned recently after being caught sending messages on a mobile gay dating app, according to report on the local news site M Live. John’s Lutheran Church and School in Midland, resigned after he was busted chatting on Grindr — where he told other men he was a “bicurious guy” who “loved making out naked.” Gay news site Queerty obtained screenshots of the conversation, which showed Makela sending multiple photos of himself to other men.

He tells a couple of porkies, telling a potential suitor that he has a girlfriend so cannot do evenings or overnight, and that he only has two children. The married father of two confirmed the authenticity of the screenshots to Queerty, but would not offer further comment. “Pastor (Makela) has acknowledged that there was sin and repentance, and I have testified that there is indeed forgiveness through the same Lord who forgives all our sins,” Senior Pastor Rev. Matthew Makela from Midland, is married with five children and has spoken of being gay as a “sinful temptation.” In posts on the dating and hookup app Grindr, Makela said he was looking to “mess around” with a guy and sent shirtless photos. He previously compared homosexuality to alcoholism writing on a Midlands Daily News story: ‘I love people who have same sex attraction, and so does God. ‘The proof is in the sacrifice He made for all of us who sin… We don’t tell a person born with tendencies to abuse alcohol to keep on giving in to his innate desires because he can’t help it. His contact on the app comes after he expressed anti-gay views under an article which argued that sexual attraction must be resisted like the temptation to steal or lie.

Daniel Kempin, senior pastor at the house of worship, announced that Makela had vacated his role, claiming that that the pastor has experienced “sin and repentance,” but declining to go into specific detail. We try to help him in his struggle.” And as the issues which trans people face have been brought further into the fore in recent years, Reverend Matthew labelled the rights movement as “aiding opportunistic sickos in preying upon children and others”, according to posts on his Facebook page seen by the news website. Kempin also took aim at those who have been posting the details of Makela’s sin on the Internet, and warned parishioners that they, too, might learn the controversial details. “To make matters worse, though, the details of sin that have been kept confidential are being posted online by those who seek to do harm to the Makela family and to St.

Matt is still forgiven and he is still loved, and we will do what we can to stand by him and the family as they face this spiteful attack of shame,” the letter said. “God is bigger than this and will see us through.” John’s “Christ-based” elementary school, their parents, friends, family or anyone who ever stepped foot in the church feel like being true to yourself is shameful (and it seems all too likely that he did), then we’re glad to share his hypocrisy with the world.” Reverend Makela’s resignation comes after an anti-gay politician from North Dakota was outed by a fellow user of Grindr, after he shared photos to the local Fargo newspaper, The Advocate reported. This too shall pass,” Kempin wrote. “In the meantime consider the advice of scripture: ’Be very careful, then, how you live, not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity because the days are evil.’” Some are accusing Makela, whose Facebook page is no longer publicly available, of making disparaging comments about gays and transgendered individuals, while simultaneously seeking same-sex relationships.
