American Idol’s Corey Clark Arrested on Domestic Violence-Related Charges: Get the Details.

Corey Clark was arrested Wednesday night and charged with felony domestic violence after he allegedly violated a restraining order his estranged wife had against him.

Corey Clark, the infamous American Idol Season 2 alum, has been arrested on both felony and misdemeanor charges following an incident last week at an Arizona courthouse, MSN is reporting. The former “American Idol” contestant had been following Monica Clark around Arizona, even though the protective order ruled he could only communicate with her through email to discuss their children. The one-time singer, who famously accused Idol judge Paula Abdul of instigating an affair with him during his time on the hit talent show (an accusation Abdul was later cleared of), made his initial appearance at Yuma Justice court in Ariz. on Thursday, Sept. 24, where his bail was set at $20,000, the Yuma Sun reports. On September 17, Clark was at the Yuma County Courthouse when he angrily confronted and arguing with a man whom Corey apparently believed was there with his (Corey’s) estranged wife, Monica Clark. Clark became famous after he was disqualified from the second season of “American Idol” after the show’s producers found out he had been arrested before and failed to disclose that on his application form.

The Wrap also reports that she told police that Clark was stalking her after he followed her to a restaurant and watched her “for hours while she ate”. Monica proved the court with a number of emails showing how Clark had overstepped the boundaries. “I wish things were better for us”, read an email Clark sent to his wife, according to TheWrap. Monica Clark has an order of protection against Corey, which allows him to only contact her via email, through a third party, and only in relation to their children. Way back in Season 2, Clark made the top ten, only to be disqualified after it was discovered that he hadn’t revealed a prior arrest record, according to The Daily Mail. Police note that the former Idol contestant was argumentative when taken into custody. “While processing Clark he continued to argue over the fact that he could email [his wife] anything he wanted,” the report reads.

However, the report did find that Abdul and Clark exchanged telephone calls, although Clark’s version of the content of those calls differed significantly from Abdul’s.
