‘American Horror Story’ Bringing Lily Rabe Back for ‘Hotel’.

The actress is in talks to return for a main role in the upcoming fifth season, Hotel, of the Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk drama, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. As first reported by EW, Rabe — currently starring on ABC’s summer bubble show The Whispers — would play a famous serial killer who has stayed at the show’s central hotel. While it may not yet be set in stone, her new role is both exciting and rather curious in terms of the fact that all of the seasons of the FX anthology series are somehow connected. Rabe most recently appeared last season on Freak Show, when her Asylum character, Sister Mary Eunice, popped up in a flashback involving Pepper (Naomi Grossman). American Horror Story returns in October and will star Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Evan Peters, Finn Wittrock, Chloe Sevigny, Wes Bentley and Cheyenne Jackson.

At this year’s Comic-Con panel, creator Ryan Murphy confirmed that things would start to connect more than ever this season, with “more and more” former AHS characters checking into the hotel. Along with the list of new and former cast members who have already been announced for this season, it sounds like this may be the biggest season yet. The actual name of the serial killer she will be playing has not yet been revealed, but Entertainment Weekly said it will be a “famous” one, possibly meaning she will be playing one straight out of the pages of history. Though the fifth season will not premiere until October, a lot of buzz and anticipation is already being created as fans wonder about what the upcoming season will bring.
