Alex Pettyfer Finally Breaks Down His Beef with Channing Tatum: He ‘Does Not Like Me’.

He was one of the main stars of Magic Mike, but Alex Pettyfer was conspicuously absent from the sequel Magic Mike XXL amid rumours that he and lead actor Channing Tatum couldn’t stand each other. However Alex, who also starred in the movie I Am Number Four, admits he’s to blame for the animosity between them, revealing they fell out massively after he rented an apartment from Channing, 35, and left without paying any rent. ‘All of a sudden, I got a very negative email from Channing – rightfully so – saying, ‘Don’t f**k my friends. Pettyfer might have just revealed why: Turns out there’s some XXL-sized baggage between him and his Magic costar Channing Tatum. “Channing Tatum does not like me, and for many reasons — many being my own fault,” Pettyfer tells Bret Easton Ellis on Monday’s episode of the latter’s “B.E.E.” podcast. I actually did my work and I sat in the corner and listened to music because I had been told that anything I do is wrong by my reps.” He adds, “I was very insecure as a human being and that also gave me a bad rep because they said, ‘Oh Alex thinks he’s f—— better than everyone else because he doesn’t speak to anyone,’ and that’s not true.

They moved out soon after, however, because Pettyfer had an allergic reaction to mold and dust in the apartment, and Tatum’s friend asked him for the full month’s rent. “I should have paid then and there,” Pettyfer says as he recounts the story. Don’t be a clown.’ Alex, who was dating model Riley Keough (granddaughter of the late Elvis Presley) at the time, says he was really offended by the email and refused to pay the money.

Understandably this didn’t go down well, but he believes Channing had been ‘looking for an excuse to not like me’ and was never keen on him being in the film in the first place. What is money when life is so much more?’ and ‘I’m not dealing with this, and I’m not paying.’” Regarding the rumors that he’s difficult on the set, Pettyfer says, “I would own up if I thought they were true” — but he doesn’t. “My problem doesn’t come when I’m on a film. Don’t be a clown.’ ” Unfortunately, the actor says, “I really took that the wrong way, which I shouldn’t have, and emailed him back and said ‘Listen I’m in a really negative situation, negative head-space could you respect me for a moment and blah blah blah.’ And then I just got hounded through this time of grieving for money, and by the end of it I just basically said ‘F— them.
