‘SNL’ Predictions With Matthew McConaughey As Host.

The last time hosted “Saturday Night Live,” musical guest the Dixie Chicks performed “Traveling Soldier.” The sketches referenced President Bush, so to say it’s been a while would be an understatement. Don’t fret though; for all those who love the zany star of “Dazed and Confused,” “Magic Mike,” and rom-coms starring Kate Hudson, McConaughey will be returning as host of “SNL.” Despite the Oscar-winning actor’s recent transition into his more serious roles, including the films “Mud,” “Interstellar,” and “Dallas Buyer’s Club,” he still manages to embrace the quirks that make him one of the most parodied actors of our time.

From his naked bongo sessions to his lengthy philosophical acceptance speeches spoken in his Texan drawl, and his infamous love for marijuana, Matthew McConaughey is a character you could learn to love (if you don’t already). His antics have made him the subject of a few sketches on the show in the past couple years a la Jim Carey’s spoof on his perplexing Lincoln car commercials and Taran Killam’s frequent impressions of him on “Weekend Update.” Even other celebrities and fellow actors like to put on a McConaughey voice when appearing at awards shows and on talk shows (i.e.: Kate Hudson, Matt Damon and Justin Long).

So, the question arises of just who the much-talked-about Matthew McConaughey will parody as he takes to the stage on November 21. • McConaughey could get very meta on us and parody himself. Or maybe a play on Matt Damon’s part in The Martian which conveniently followed on the coattails of McConaughey’s role in “Interstellar?” • Anything “True Detective” related.

It would be hard to assume that McConaughey doesn’t incorporate one of his most career-defining roles into a sketch, meaning there could be a reunion between Rust and Marty (Woody Harrelson) in the works, either through a sequel to their parts on seasonone of the hit HBO show or with a jab at the somewhat disappointing second season that was sadly McConaughey-less. • All right, all right, all right…if there’s one thing most people know about Matthew McConaughey, it’s that he has an undeniable love for weed. His gig hosting back in 2003 featured an assortment of marijuana-related sketches, including his opening monologue where he headed back to his dressing room for a quick smoke with the “SNL” players.
